Snapp Finds the Right Criminal Justice Degree at the Right Time
EKU Online Corrections and Juvenile Justice Studies student Jamie Snapp
“My ultimate career goal is to work in probation and parole. I love what I’m studying,” said Jamie Snapp, an EKU Online Corrections and Juvenile Justice Studies student.
Jamie discovered her career calling when she shadowed a friend who works in the profession. She wanted a degree to be fully prepared to enter the criminal justice field. She chose EKU for its world-renowned reputation and 100 percent online degree program.
Since becoming an online student, she’s discovered that EKU is an exceptionally supportive environment for an adult student transitioning to a new career.
When she enrolled, Advisor Lou Martin helped her transfer the credits she had earned at another university. ”She went above and beyond,” said Snapp.
Her instructors are also encouraging. They are eager to welcome her to the profession, and they understand she may need a little extra support as she balances her personal and professional life with her coursework.
“Everyone at EKU makes me feel like I’m the only student they have,” she said.
She appreciates that many of her instructors have worked in the field and continue to remain active while they teach.
“I think the real life experience with the degree is key,” she explained adding that she is enhancing her own academic experience with an internship and taking advantage of opportunities to network with those in the profession.
Jamie believes EKU was one of the best decisions she ever made. “I have never been somewhere that felt more like family!” she said.
